Abstract

The observation of water qualities in brackishwater pond in Teluk Payo, Sungai Dugun and Muara Sungsang had done on August until October 2008 that intended to know the brackishwater pond qualities in that three locations, especially content of nitrate-phosphate, abundance of phytoplankton and influence of water parameters to abundance of phytoplankton. The sampling was done through purposive random sampling method with 6 stations in each area of brackishwater pond included inlet, fishpond and outlet. Environment parameters which was measured are temperature, salinity, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, brightness, nitrate and phosphate contents. Phytoplanktons were identified using microscope and sedgwick raffcer counting cell method. The result of research showed that the brackishwater pond qualities in Standard qualities for organism excepted dissolved oxygen, nitrate dan phosphate content Nitrate content between immensed until 0,720 mg/1 while phosphate content between immensed until 2,44 mg/1. Phytoplankton composition was consist of four classes, they are Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Chloropyceae and Dinoflagellata with it’s abundance between 334 ind/1 until 510 ind/1. The level effect of water parameters to abundance of phytoplankton was 50,80 % until 86,00 % where the water parameters more having an effect was brightness, temperature and salinity.
