Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran Critical Incident terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. Metode yang dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian eksperimen. Sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas VII 3 berjumlah 32 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VII 4 berjumlah 32 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian menggunakan teknik tes, dengan Pretest dan Posttest. Teknik analisis data menggunakan rumus Paired sampel t dan uji hipotesis menggunakan rumus Independent Samples Test pada program SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan dari tes menunjukkan perbedaan rerata antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Rerata Pretest kelas kontrol 33,16 dan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 76,53 pada hasil Posttest. Rerata Pretest kelas eksperimen 34,03 dan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 81,88 pada hasil Posttest. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan rerata pada kelas eksperimen lebih besar, dibandingkan rerata pada kelas kontrol. Kemudian, pada uji Independent Samples Test yang sudah dilakukan, didapatkan hasil signifikasi dua sisi yang diperoleh adalah 0,000 < 0,05 yang berarti Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Kesimpulan, dari hasil yang diperoleh bahwa ada pengaruh strategi pembelajaran Critical Incident terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya.
