Abstract

Palm oil production produces liquid waste that has the potential to pollute the environment. With in the high potential for pollution, it is necessary to optimally treat the palm oil liquid waste. The purpose of this study was to analyze the processing of palm oil effluent at PT.SutopoLestari Jaya, Gasing Village, Banyuasin Regency. This type of research is qualitative with qualitative descriptive research methods. Information retrieval methods are in-depth interviews, document review, structured observations and measuring liquid waste parameters. Data validation using triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the human resource aspect has not met the specified standards. The source of the liquid waste comes from the classification and sterilization process. The average wastewater discharge is 1000 m3/day and already has a liquid waste disposal permit. Waste treatment facilities use 16 units of WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant). Based on thee results of the measurement of liquid waste effluent, there are 3 (three) parameters that do not meet the quality standards of PerMenLH No. 5 of 2014 namely BOD parameters of 220.3 mg/L, COD of 1050 mg/L and TSS of >1000 mg/L.It can be concluded that the process of processing palm oil effluent at PT. Sutopo Lestari Jaya has not been maximized and the quality of the effluent of palm oil liquid waste at PT. Sutopo Lestari Jaya is still not suitable to be channeled into water bodies So the company is advised to place qualified WWTP operators according to job specifications and carry out advanced stages (Tertiary treatment) such as activated carbon absorption method and uv irradiation in order to maximize the processing results so that the liquid waste is feasible to be channeled into water bodies.
