Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor social ekonomi dan pola konsumsi remaja SMAN 1, SMAN 3 dan SMAN 10 Palembang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di tiga sekolah yaitu SMAN 1, SMAN 3, SMAN 10 Palembang, Laboratorium Teknologi Pangan Teknik Kimia Politeknik Sriwijaya dan Laboratorium Kimia Hasil Pertanian pada bulan April 2004 sampai dengan Agustus 2004. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei dengan menggunakan rancangan Cross Sectional. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa status gizi remaja berdasarkan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) di SMA Negeri 1, SMA Negeri 3 dan SMA Negeri 10 Palembang 55,5 persen tergolong kategori kurus, 38,9 persen kategori normal dan 5,6 persen kategori gemuk. Pola konsumsi kalori dan protein kalori remaja putra masih di bawah angka kecukupan yang dianjurkan yaitu 82,85 persen dan 99,28 persen sedangkan remaja putri di atas angka kecukupan yaitu 101,3 persen dan 118,11 persen. Remaja memiliki kebiasaan mengkonsumsi ayam goreng dengan alas an praktis, harga teijangkau dan rasa yang gurih. Hasil analisa kimia terhadap ayam goreng di restoran KFC, Texas, Mc. Donald's dan CFC menunjukkan kandungan lemak, natrium, kolesterol ayam goreng cukup tinggi.
