Abstract
The lack of understanding of oil palm farmers on the types of diseases that exist in oil palm plants results in continuous damage to oil palm plants. In this study, an expert system was built to diagnose oil palm plant diseases using forward chaining and certainty factor methods. The disease diagnosis process uses the forward chaining method by tracing the symptom rules according to the existing knowledge base then calculating each disease symptom using the certainty factor method by calculating the user cf value and the expert cf value for each disease symptom to get the value of the disease. From the results of system testing, it is obtained that the system accuracy value is 90% based on 30 test cases that have been tested by comparing the results of expert diagnoses with the results of system diagnostics and the feasibility of the system in the "good" category according to the results of MOS testing based on 20 respondents.
