Abstract

Steroid compound was isolated from n-hexane fraction of stem bark star fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi Linn). The extraction was done by maceration method then was separation and purification was conducted by chromatographic technique. Isolated compound was white needle crystals. The structure of this compound was determined with UV, IR, NMR 1D and DEPT. Based on spectral data analysis could be concluded that isolated compound was steroid sitosterol. This pure compound can to pursue the growth of Bacillus subtilis in extract and pure compound, however can’t inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli. Activity assay pure /Tsitosterol compound of Bacillus subtilis at a concentration of 10.000 ppm about 6,5 mm which is weak activity.
