Abstract

It had been done the study of crude jatropha oil usage by heating jatropha seed as kerosin mixed matterial for a fUell. The aim of this research ware to know the rendemen of crude jatropha oil and the optimum condition blending between crude jatropha oil and cerosine. The blending B0, B25, B50, B75, BI00 were characterized by using ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials) method. The parameters measured ware specific gravity, densitry at 15°C, 300°C distillate volume of recovery, flash point, kinematic viscosity, cetane index, carbon residue, sulphur content, water content, copperstrip corrosion, and smoke point. The result of this research show introduction heating method from Jatropha seed before pressed, with used open at 105°C during 30 minute and the result of rendemen from crude jatropha oil 24.25% and the result of characteristic specific gravity, density at 15°C and kinematic viscosity until 25% (B25) still falfill enough the ASTM Standard of cerosine, but based on distillation at 300QC achieved distillate, volume of recovery, flash point, cetane index, carbon residue, sediment content, sulphur content, water content, copperstrip corrosion and smoke point to all blending falfill ASTM Standard of cerosine.
