Abstract

Students propose to redesign the Palasari Market, Bandung City to restore the market's heyday, then propose to solve the design problem of the building with the concept of interactive space. At first, the Palasari Market did not provide access, visuals, and good circulation regarding the fire case that caused it to happen. The market, which is famous for selling its books, has become the target of local residents and non-local residents so that it can be called an icon and tourism potential for residents. The redesign of the Palsari Market was maximized by creating areas of interaction between buildings and sites as well as areas outside the Palasari Market site. The provision of an open plaza and providing visible access for entry to make it easier for new users and those who have visited often are things that are formed as an attraction. The shape of the building is made to resemble a stack of slanted books combined with the facade of the sheet of book paper itself is also a bulge in the Palasari Market building which is famous for its Book Market. In the inner area there will be a circulation that allows visitors to enjoy every stall in Palasari Market so that the wet market, dry market, and book market can be tied. The provision of voids is an area for interaction between levels, besides that, voids also function as visual accents for visitors in the building and provide maximum circulation of light and air. The Palasari Market is also provided with its own lane separating the service area and the visitor area so that it can provide good circulation between garbage trucks, garbage carts, service staff and utility staff to handle maintenance, repair, and handling.
