Abstract
Water guava (ll. a4renm) bas been errtacted by macemtion method ofdry leaf powder in a rou, in n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol solvents. The separation ofthe compounds was carried out on the ethyl acetate ftaction by means of graviq/ column ckomatography. Purification of the compound was caried out by thh layer chomalognphy test with n-hexane:ethyl acetate (9:1, 7:3, 6:4) as eluent to prodltce a siogle spot paltem and ffed the crystals of tl1e column with a combined solvent ofn-hexane:ethyl acetate ( I : i ) . The isolated compound was a minor compound with a white solid of 2.4 mg and identified using I& IH-NMR, and l3C-NMR spectoscopy. From the spectroscopjc data ofisolated compounds and comparative data, therc are carbonyl groups of carboxylic acids, hydroqrl groups, 7 methyl groups (CH3), 7 methiDe groups (CH),8 methylene groups (Cll2), and 1 vinylic group. The isolated pure compound was identified as belonging to the pentacyclic triterpenoid group, namely ursolic acid.
