Abstract

This study discusses the competitive advantage of Indonesian Pulp and Paper commodities, especially in South Sumatra Province in increasing the economy and attractiveness. In exporting non-oil and gas commodities to China, especially the Pulp and Paper industry, there is a big goal to be able to participate in increasing competitiveness in the world. This study raises the research question "Why did pulp and paper exports in South Sumatra increase amid fluctuations in non-oil exports in South Sumatra in 2018-2019?" To answer this question, the researcher uses a theory related to Competitive Advantage. The results of the study show that there are distinct advantages, namely Product Quality Excellence and Asset Capabilities that make the value of pulp and paper exports to China remain stable amidst fluctuations in non-oil and gas exports to China. With high demand from China and assistance and support from the Government of South Sumatra, South Sumatra's Pulp exports remained stable amid a decline in the volume of Non-Oil and Gas exports to China.
