Abstract

Abstract The Purpose of research is: (1) the level of welfare of rice farmers after the decline in land area in Palu Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency (2) to assess the survival strategy of rice farmers after the decline in land area in Palu Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research was conducted in Palu Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This location selection was done purposively. The data taken and used in this study is data from April to May 2021. The method used in this study is a survey method. Sampling or sampling is done by simple random sampling, which means that all rice farmers in Palu Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, have the same opportunity to be used as samples. The data processing method is the method used to process the data obtained from the results of field surveys and the results of filling out questionnaires for research needs. The results of the study can be concluded (1) that rice farmers in Palu Village can be measured by the exchange rate of household income which can determine the welfare or prosperity of farmers. The exchange rate of household income is 0.69 or 1, which means that rice farmers in Palu Village are not yet prosperous (2) farmers use an active strategy in which farmers do alternative work or non-rice farming, a passive strategy in which farmers make changes to their daily expenses and set aside their residual income or save, and a network strategy where farmers seek loans from their families, neighbors, and cooperatives and farmers. also make non-cash loans where farmers owe money to stalls or to middlemen to buy necessities, who pay for them after harvest.
