Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of mindfulness on forgiveness in couples who have been cheated on in a marital relationship. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a role for mindfulness on forgiveness. Respondents in this study were 100 couples who were cheated on in a marital relationship, still maintain their marriage and still live in the same house with their partner. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used is the mindfulness scale which refers to aspects of Baer and Krietmeyer (2006) and the forgiveness scale which refers to the dimensions of Baumeister, Exline, and Sommer (1998). Data analysis in this study used simple regression technique. The results of the regression analysis showed that the R square value between mindfulness and forgiveness was 0.334, the F value was 49.164 and the significance value was 0.000 (p <0.005). This shows that mindfulness has a significant role in forgiveness, thus the hypothesis proposed in this study can be accepted.
