Abstract

COMPARISON OF PREGNANT MOTHER’S KNOWLEDGE BEFORE AND AFTER CONSELING ABOUT PREVENTION CARIES OF THE CHILD'S PRIMARY TEETH Wahdini Tri Annisa Dentistry Study Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University Abstract Background: Based on Indonesia data Basic Health Research (RISKEDES) in 2018 41,1 % of children aged 3-4 years in Indonesian had experienced of dental caries. Efforts of prevetion on caries prenatal and postnatal by sufficient nutritional intake during pregnancy and the use of toothpaste contained fluoride which was useful for the prevention caries of the child’s primary teeth. Pregnant mother’s knowledge and education influence the risk of caries of the child’s primary teeth. One of the efforts to improve prevention caries of the child’s primary teeth knowledge was conseling by use leaflet. Aimed: To compare the pregnant mother’s knowledge before and after conseling used leaflet about prevention caries prenatal and postnatal of the child’s primary teeth. Methods: This research used pre- Experimental with pretest-posttest design and purposive sampling technique. The Research subjects were 30 pregnant mother’s at RSIA AMMANA Baturaja. Sample was given a questionnaire before (pretest) and after (posttest) conseling used leaflet. The data analysis used in this study was the T Dependent. Result: There was a significance difference between pretest and posttest score of pregnant mother’s knowledge before and after conseling used leaflet (p-value <0.0001). Conclusion: There was a significance increase on pregnant mother’s knowledge before and after conseling used leaflet about prevention caries prenatal and postnatal of the child’s primary teeth at RSIA AMMANA Baturaja that was amounted to 4,36.
