Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the effect of methyl metsulfuron herbicide at dose of 125 gr/ha on the growth of Purple Nutsedges. This research was conducted from August to December 2021 in Bukit Baru, Palembang, with the following location (2°58'43.1"S, 104°42'26.5"E). This study was arranged in a randomized block design (RBD) with treatment A1= 4 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 2 WAP. A2= 4 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 4 WAP. A3= 4 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 8 WAP. B1= 6 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 2 WAP. B2= 6 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 4 WAP. B3= 6 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 8 WAP. C1= 8 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 2 WAP. C2= 8 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 4 WAP. C3= 8 Purple Nutsedges tubers, spraying 8 WAP. The parameters observed were growth of tuber, weed height, percentage of mortality, percentage of regrowth, wet weight and dry weight tubers. The effect of methyl metsulfuron herbicide at dose 125 gr/ha was able to suppress nut weeds in treatments 4 and 6 tubers of nut weed at spraying 2 and 4 WAP. The effectiveness of herbicide methyl metsulfuron at dose 125 g/ha did not last long, resulting in regrowth of nut weeds after they died as a result of spraying.
