Abstract

Quenching merupakan proses pemanasan pada logam sampai suhu asutenit yang kemudian didinginkan secara cepat dengan media pendingin. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh media pendingin senyawa tembaga, terhadap kekerasan alumunium alloy 6061 pada proses quenching. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimen dengan spesimen tanpa diberikan perlakuan panas dan yang diberikan perlakuan panas quenching pada alumunium alloy 6061 menggunakan suhu 500oC serta waktu penahanan 30 menit dengan media pendingin senyawa tembaga dengan kosentrasi 5%,10%,15% dan tanpa larutan tembaga (0%). Kemudian diuji kekerasannya dengan metode vickers dengan beban 20 kgf. Hasil uji kekerasan menunjukan nilai kekerasan material tanpa perlakuan panas yaitu 99,27 kgf/mm2, dengan media pendingin tanpa larutan tembaga 66,49 kgf/mm2, dengan media larutan tembaga 5% 67,59 kgf/mm2, larutan 10% 70,72 kgf/mm2, dan larutan 15% 85,03 kgf/mm2. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan nilai kekerasan spesimen menurun setelah diberikan perlakuan panas, namun ada pengaruh lain yaitu semakin banyak kosentrasi larutan tembaga maka kekerasan semakin meningkat.
