Abstract

Nutritional status is a condition caused by a balance between nutrient intake from food and the nutritional needs needed for body metabolism. Nationally, in Indonesia, the prevalence of underweight in adolescents aged 13 – 15 years is 8,7% (1,9% very thin and 6,8% thin) and the problem of obesity at the age of 13-15 years is 16% (11,2% fat and very fat (obese) 4,8% ). In South Sumatra Province, the prevalence of underweight in adolescents aged 13-15 years is 8,76% (1,56% very thin and 7,20 thin) and the problem of obesity at the age of 13-15 years is 14,3% (10,89% fat and 3,41% obese). While in Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) the prevalence of underweight adolescents aged 13-15 years is 8,92% (3,02% very thin and 5,90% thin) and the problem of obesity at the age of 13-15 years is 16,58%. (12,43% fat and 4,15% obesity) is a prevalence that is still high (Riskesdas, 2018). Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency is in the third largest level who is very thin and the ninth largest level is obese compared to other cities or regencies in South Sumatra Province (Rikesdas, 2018). Methods this research was conducted in September. The type of research used is quantitative with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 66 teenagers using purposive sampling technique. Results of the chi square test obtained a p value of 0.032 (p <α) indicating that there is a significant relationship between the variables of physical activity on the nutritional status of adolescents in SMP Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency. While the variables that are not related to the nutritional status of adolescents in SMP Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) are the variables of diet: type of food (p = 0.951), frequency of eating (p = 0.099) and amount of food (p = 0.525). Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between physical activity and adolescent nutritional status. It is expected that adolescents whose nutritional status is in the very thin category and the obese category, should start paying attention to a healthy daily diet. This can be done by consuming various types of food and balanced nutrition with the right portions to avoid an imbalance between nutrients and doing regular exercise.
