Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Intensity of Social Media usage with academic procrastination in high school students of State 5 Palembang. This research uses quantitative approach with correlation method. The population in this study are 330 students ie all students of class XI SMA Negeri 5 Palembang. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, and got 38 students who made the samples that are identified experiencing academic procrastination. Data collection is done by using questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using pearson product moment. Result of data analysis from this research obtained correlation coefficient 0,325. This means that there is a significant positive relationship between the intensity of social media usage with academic procrastination. The higher the intensity of social media usage the higher the behavior of academic procrastination, the lower the intensity of social media usage the lower the academic procrastination behavior.
