Abstract

Schools are formal educational institutions that are a means of need for everyone. Schools are one of the potential locations for the spread of COVID-19. Healthy sanitation conditions will have a big influence on the health level of school residents. Therefore, schools during the COVID-19 pandemic must have readiness in terms of sanitation facilities and health protocols. So the purpose of this study is to analyze the readiness of school sanitation facilities in the face of the new normal at SMA Negeri Palembang. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, information obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and document review. There were 24 informants in this study which were divided into 8 key informants and 16 informants. The results showed that the source of clean water in the four schools was already using PDAM, the water was always clear, colorless, odorless, the availability of water was always there and there were reservoirs such as tedmond. There are separate latrines available for men and women, but the number of latrines does not match the number of students and in two schools the latrines smell bad even though they have been cleaned. Then the health protocols have met the requirements but in four schools there are no signs of social distancing and in two schools do not have ctps posters. The conclusion in this study is that the condition of the water source has met the health requirements, while the latrine facilities have not met the requirements in terms of litter boxes and odors in schools that do not meet the requirements, and the health protocol has met the requirements except that the four schools do not have a distance sign and there is no ctps posters in two schools. Suggestions in this study are that schools must add and fulfill inadequate sanitation, and for existing sanitation schools must maintain it.
