Abstract

Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to nutritional problems. In this phase, adolescents experience significant physical, biological, and psychosocial transitions and developments from children to adults and the formation of habits and behaviors, one of which is eating habits. Assessment of food quality in adolescents is important to do to find out the food eaten is appropriate or not. Nutritional quality emphasizes food diversity. The more diverse and balanced the composition of the food consumed, the better the nutritional status. Knowing the description of adolescent characteristics (age, gender, breakfast habits, number of family members) in adolescents at SMAN 10 Palembang. This research is a quantitative study with an analytical observational study design with a cross sectional method. The sampling used was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 209 teenagers at SMAN 10 Palembang. Data analysis techniques are univariate and bivariate. The data is then presented in the form of tables, graphs, and narratives to interpret the data. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between nutritional knowledge and food quality p value 0.003, social media factor p value 0.050. While the results of the study showed that there was no elationship between gender and food quality, p value 0.064. This study explores adolescent factors more, therefore in future research it is expected to further explore, add and consider other factors such as family income and peer influence.
