Abstract

Antibacterial activity test of compound and fractions of avocado leaf (persea americana mill ) extract against bacteria escherichia coli and salmonella thypi in vitro had been conducted in the Laboratory of Genetics and Biotecnology and Laboratory Microbiology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Sriwijaya University in February untii May 2014. The objectives of this research are to identify the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MJC) and active compounds from avocado leaf extract. In vitro experimental researches. The steps of this research are the method of maceration extraction, Ifactionation by the method of liquid-liquid fraction (FCC) and purification of active compounds by using gravity coiumn cViTomatography (KKG). Data were analyzed by analysis of variants (ANOVA), Duncan further test using SPSS program version 17 and Standard deviation. The results showed that the active fraction is the fraction of n-hexane. The value is of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration of n-hexane fraction of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi is 250 pg/ml. Antibacterial compounds that contained in avocado leaves belonged Terpenoid compounds with Rf value of 0,10 and 0,08. MIC values of active compounds againts Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi is 62 pg/ml. It can be concluded The value is of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration of nhexane fraction of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi is 250 pg/ml the inhibitor zone diameter 8 mm and 7,17 mm.
