Abstract

This study aims to determine the Strategy of Civics Teachers in Improving the Character of Student Learning Independence through Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic Period at SMP Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi. In this study, researchers used a qualitative approach in the form of descriptive. The social situation in this study includes SMP Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi as a learning (place), Civics teachers and class VII.A students as (people) as well as learning activities carried out by Civics teachers in improving the character of student learning independence as (activities) which are used as informants. in this study amounted to 6 people. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. And the data collection technique used is the technique of documentation, interviews and observation. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it shows that the PPKn teacher's strategy in improving the character of student learning independence is through learning during the covid-19 pandemic through the example shown by the teacher to students, providing advice, coaching, coaching, habituation and coaching to students of SMP Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi.
