Abstract

Health literacy is an individual's ability to access, understand, assess, and apply health-related information. Utilization of health services is an important component in JKN because it is one of the indicators of the success of the program. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct research to see the relationship between health literacy and the utilization of health services. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional study design. The research sample amounted to 110 people with the sampling technique of cluster random sampling. This study used research instruments in the form of a HLS-EU-SQ10-IDN questionnaire and interviews. The results showed that the literacy level of the respondents was classified as "enough" (59.1%). A total of 62 respondents (56.4%) did not use health services. The result, of the bivariate test showed that there was no relationship between health literacy and the utilization of health services (p=0.188). The variables were education (p=0.000), occupation (p=0.002), age (p=0.034), gender (p=0.024), and history of illness (p=0.000) had a relationship with the utilization of health services. The suggestion for this research is that the Public Health Center should increase socialization and education related to health and JKN to increase the utilization of health services while increasing public health literacy.
