Abstract

Semprawang (Dillenia ochreata) is empirically used by Musinese as cure scabies. The bioacticuty of D. ochreata is still very limited. The aims research was to determine the antioxidant and anticholesterol activity. The research was started with the maceration method using methanol and ethanol solvent and then using a solvent with of increasing polarity (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol). The phenolic and flavonoid content of each extract were tested photometrically. Antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl 2-picrylhydrazyl) and FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) methods, while Liebermann-Burchard for anticholesterol. The results showed the highest total phenolic and total flavonoid content were found in total methanol extract with a value of 143.29 mgGAE/g and 16.21 mgQE/g. The highest antioxidant activity of DPPH and FRAP in total extraction was total methanol extract with IC50 values of 48.0 mg/mL and RC50 15.5 mg/L. While extraction of increasing polarity was found in the methanol extract with IC50 values of 393.1 mg/mL and an RC50 of 54.5 mg/mL. The highest anticholesterol activity was shown by n-hexane extract with IC50 value of 39.9 mg/L with positive control simvastatin IC50 value of 24.7 mg/L.
