Abstract
Antioxidants are very important for health, and are needed by the body to overcome and prevent oxidative stress. Oxidative stress plays a role in the pathophysiology of degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. This research was conducted from August to December 2021. Sampling was carried out in the Meranjat Region, South Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. The methods used in this research include extraction, fractionation, purification of compounds using column chromatography, classification of compounds, and determination of IC50 values using the DPPH method. The results obtained from this study are extraction yields of 24.06% methanol extract. The results of the liquid-liquid fractionation obtained the n-hexane fraction yield of 37.03%, ethyl fraction 37.03%, and methanol: water 31.22%. The results of the antioxidant activity test using a TLC plate, the n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions had stronger antioxidant activity than the methanol:water fraction. The conclusion of this research is that the n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions of kardia leaves (Bellucia pentamera naudin.), contain terpenoid, flavonoid and steroid compounds and have very strong, strong and weakantioxidant activity.
