Abstract
A normal healthy body can form free radicals through the work of metabolism. Free radical compounds can damage cells, to inhibit the damage to body cells, you can use antioxidants. Antioxidants function as compounds that reduce the negative effects of oxidants on the body. Many plants can produce natural antioxidants, one of which is mahogany. This plant is a plant that is used as medicine, usually found This research was carried out from September 2021 to March 2022 with mahogany leaf sampling at a location at Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The methods used to determine the antioxidant activity of mahogany leaves were extraction, fractionation, antioxidant activity test using DPPH and TLC, purification of compounds on column chromatography, and determination of IC50 values. in the area of South Sumatra. Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni L. Jacq.) is a plant belonging to one of the Meliaceae family. This plant has a taproot, rounded stem, and is gummy. Young leaves are red and change to green until they are old.
