Abstract

The purpose of this research were to (1) analyze the perception of rice farmers on the use of Ciherang varieties in Sungai Dua Village (2) calculate the income of paddy farming in Sungai Dua Village (3) analyze the relationship between perception and income of rice farming on the use of Ciherang rice seed varieties in Sungai Dua Village. The research has been conducted in Sungai Dua Village, Subdistrict Rambutan, Banyuasin Regency. The time of collection and data collection has been conducted in October 2017. The research method used survey method. Sampling method used in this research is simple random sampling method. The data collected are primary and secondary data. The method of data processing to determine the perception of farmers on the use of Ciherang varieties of rice seeds was done qualitatively using the class interval. Determining the income of rice farming using Ms.Excel's help is then described descriptively in Ms. Word. Determining the perception relation with rice farming income using spearman correlation test. The results showed that rice paddy farmers' perceptions on the use of Ciherang varieties of rice in Sungai Dua Village were high criteria, as well as detailed indicators of high availability of rice seeds, high price of rice seeds, moderate criteria, high quality of seed production, and marketing high-yield crops. The production cost of paddy farming issued by farmers in one year of planting season is Rp 5,436,440/ha/th with average revenue of farmer is Rp 22,185.00,-/ ha/mt and average income generated farmers amounting to Rp 16,748,560,-/ha/mt. the results obtained by the value of correlation coefficient of 0.014 which is positive value, Meaning the relationship of these two variables are unidirectional, thus can be interpreted if the income of paddy farming is increasing, the perception of farmers to the use of Ciherang varieties of rice seeds the better. Then from the output result is obtained correlation coefficient value of 0.014. Based on the correlation coefficient interpretation guidelines by Sugiyono (2009), then the level of perception relationship with rice farming income to the use of Ciherang rice varieties in Sungai Dua Village is very low.
