Abstract

Temper tantrums are episodes of extreme frustration or anger characterized by yelling, screaming, crying, falling to the floor, flailing extremities, hitting, kicking, throwing things, and holding their breath In dealing with tantrum child, many parents choose to obey their child's wishes because of lack of knowledge about temper tantrums and feeling ashamed to be seen by others or fear of injury to their children and others. This study aims to find out the relationship of parents' knowledge about temper tantrums with temper tantrum behavior in toddler-age children in Lubuk Tua village. This type of research is descriptive of analytics with Cross Sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 64 respondents with sampling techniques using simple random sampling. The data was collected using questionnaires. Based on the results of the chi square test obtained a p value of 0.000 < 0.05 which means there is a relationship of parents' knowledge about temper tantrums with temper tantrum behavior in toddler children. There needs to be an increase in providing education to the public through health counseling about temper tantrums, how to prevent and how to overcome temper tantrums correctly so that they can increase parents' knowledge about temper tantrums.
