Abstract
Nanofluid is a heterogeneous mixture of solid and liquid. The solids here are small nanometer-sized (<100 nm) particles, which can be nanoparticles, nanotubes, or nanowires. The fluid can be a single base fluid or a different fluid fluid. Nanodluid based on Multi Wall Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) obtained from dried CNT dispersion, and virgin coconut oil as a base fluid have been successfully made, the manufacture of nanofluids starts from calculating and mixing volume fractions (0,1, 0,3, and 0,5) which will be mixed into 250 ml of pure coconut oil, the mixing process is carried out for 10 minutes, using a magnetic stirrer , then the mixed nano fluid is inserted into the ultrasonic cleaner so that the nano fluid is more well dispersed with the help of ultrasound at a temperature of 40 ℃ for 10 minute. Then tested for density, viscosity, sedimentation, as well as testing Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-Ray Difraction (XRD) on MWCNT particles. The test results show that the value of viscosity and density increases with increasing volume fraction, where the MWCNT nano fluid with a volume fraction of 0.5% has the largest characterization change.
