Abstract
This study is aimed at describing aspects of scientific literacy in science textbooks for junior high school for grade IX on the matter of particles making up objects and living things. The research instrument used in this study was adopted from the scientific literacy aspect applied by PISA 2018 which is divided into three aspects, which is the scientific knowledge aspect, the scientific competencies aspects, and the science context aspect. The results of the analysis obtained the average percentage of scientific literacy aspects as follows: (1) The scientific knowledge aspect, 52.84%, (2) The scientific competencies aspects, 13.63%, and (3) The science context aspect, 33,53%. The percentages of the three aspects of scientific literacy in book A on the scientific knowledge aspect, the scientific competencies aspects, and the science context aspect are 56.17%, 19.15%, and 24.68%. While the result in book B is 49.52%, 8.1%, and 42.38%. This shows that both book A and book B are containing more aspect of scientific knowledge. Overall, the aspects of scientific literacy that appear in the chapter in the two books have contained what is required by the curriculum.
