Abstract

This study aims to develop a product of the frog metamorphosis maze game tool for children aged (5-6) years which has been tested for validity and practicality. This development uses a combination of Rowntree's development model which consists of the planning, development and formative evaluation stages of Tessmer which consists of self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, and small group evaluation. The advantages of Maze are that it has different colors that make children interested, the materials used pay attention to child safety, the size is not too big, and is light so it is safe for children and helps children learn about the metamorphosis of frogs. The types of data used are primary data and secondary data. The research procedure includes planning that is obtained from the results of interviews in three schools, then the development carried out by developing the design of game tools and evaluations carried out in accordance with the tessmer evaluation. From the results of self• evaluation, then proceed to expert review so that the results of the expert review material validity of 75% and media validity obtained by 83%. From the results of the validity of the material and media obtained an average value of 79% with a valid category. The results ofthe one-to-one evaluation stage with the subject oftwo children with 86% results and the small group evaluation stage with the subject of six children with 88% results. Ofthe two obtained an average of 87% with a very practical category. Based on the evaluation results from the two stages, namely one-to-one evaluation and small group evaluation, the development of the frog metamorphosis maze game tool was declared valid and practical and suitable for use in early childhood learning activities.
