Abstract
Spinner is a machine used to reduce the oil content in chips. Many factors affect the performance of the oil draining machine, one of which is the length of the draining time and also the mass of the material used. This study aims to determine the performance of the oil draining machine on banana chips with the addition of time and weight of the material. This research was conducted from February to April 2021. In this study, two different weights of banana chips were used, namely 0.3 kg and 0.5 kg with the treatment length of draining time of 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds, 120 seconds and 150 seconds. Using a descriptive research method with several research parameters, namely the effective capacity of the engine, effective power requirements, oil draining yield, and material damage. The results showed that the highest effective capacity value was found in sample A2B1 (material weight 0.5 kg, draining time 30 seconds) with an effective power requirement value of 0.00303 kW/kg, oil draining yield value of 98.40% and the percentage of damage material of 4,41%.
