Abstract

Urban Farming is a farming activity that includes the cultivation, processing, marketing, and distribution of food and horticultural products that appear in and around urban areas as a form of effort to maintain the quality of life, namely by increasing the availability of food and income or other activities which brings joy (recreation) and relaxation. The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the dimensions of agribusiness and the pattern of urban agricultural activities that take place during the rainy season (MH) and dry season (MK) in Kampung Sayur Cempako 26 Ilir; (2) To measure the effectiveness of urban agricultural business activities to increase people's income from month to month in the rainy season (MH) is distinguished from the dry season (MK). This research was conducted in Kampung Sayur Cempako which is located on Jalan Batu Nilam, Gang Berdikari, RT 17 RW 05, Kelurahan 26 Ilir, Bukit Kecil, Palembang City. The location of this research was determined deliberately, considering that the selected area is an urban area that carries out urban agricultural business activities. The sample in this study was selected using a saturated sampling method consisting of all members of the Dasawisma Beringin women group. The results showed that urban agricultural activities (1) The measurement of urban agricultural activities in hydroponic vegetable cultivation was based on four indicators, namely business preparation scored 14.03 with high criteria, cultivation activities scored 15.24 with high criteria, maintenance activities scored 14.70 with high criteria and harvesting and marketing activities with a score of 14.87 high criteria (2) Hydroponic vegetable business income in the rainy season is Rp14.614.383,00 per season while in the dry season it is Rp9.037.103,00 per season (3) The contribution of additional income from urban agricultural activities to the total income of related families from month to month, namely in the rainy season 35.33% the criteria are pretty significant and in the dry season the percentage is 29.91% moderate criteria.
