Abstract

The objective of research was to determine the water application efficiency on the growth and yield of chilly crop. The method used in this research was descriptive method consisting of flooding irrigation, manual irrigation within plant house and manual irrigation outside plant house. Data was analyzed by using tables and graphs. The observed paremeters were water application efficiency, water use efficiency, leaves number, crop height increment, and chilly crop yield. The results showed that water application efficiency for treatments of flooding irrigation, manual irrigation within plant house and manual irrigation outside plant house were 84.59%, 76. 10% and 20.94%, respectively. Water use efficiency for treatments of flooding irrigation, manual irrigation within plant house and manual irrigation outside plant house were 17.83 kg/m3, 48.85 kg/m3 and 7.07 kg/m3, respectively. The highest yield was obtained on treatment of manual irrigation outside plant house with magnitude of 0.03912 kg, whereas the yields for flooding irrigation and manual irrigation within plant house were 0.01192 kg and 0.02686 kg, respectively. The best treatments in term of water application efficiency, water use efficiency and yield were flooding irrigation, manual irrigation within plant house and manual irrigation outside plant house, respectively.
