Abstract

This study aims to describe the environmental issues represented in the novel Sampah di Laut, Meira by Mawan Belgia and to describe the implications of ecocriticism in the novel Sampah di Laut, Meira by Mawan Belgia in learning Indonesian literature for class XII high school students. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this study is the novel Sampah di Laut, Meira by Mawan Belgia. Data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results in this study indicate that (1) environmental issues are found which are represented in the novel Sampah di Laut, Meira by amounts to 77 data including pollution totaling 30 data, wilderness amounting to 1 data, apocalypse totaling 5 data, dwelling totaling 11 data, animals totaling 10 data, and earth totaling 20 data; and (2) this research can be implicated in literature learning in SMA class XII curriculum 2013 in KD. 3.9 namely analyzing the content and language of the novel.
