Abstract

PT. Meganta Batu Sampurna, is a mining company located in Batujajar Village, Cigudeg District, Bogor Regency, West Java Province. This company carries out andesite mining activities to meet market needs and support national development. Andesite is mined in a quarry and then processed at a crushing plant into products in the form of 3-5 cm split, 1-2 cm split, and rock ash . The stone ash is then processed at a sand plant into manufacture sand. This processing produces waste in the form of slurry which must be disposed of so as not to hinder the production process. In the slurry disposal process, the company uses a sludge pump which is connected to a 550 meter long HDPE ( High Density Polyethylene ) discharge pipe with a size of 3 inches. The use of this tool causes problems in the capacity, working hours and operating costs of the pump. To overcome this problem, the company made efforts to change the output pipe to a size of 4 inches. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of changing pipes to problems caused. The research method used is a combination of theory and actual. The use of a sludge pump and a 3 inch pipe results in a pump capacity of 40,035 m3 / hour, pump working hours 20 hours/day and electricity costs of Rp. 33,840,000. The use of a sludge pump and a 4 inch pipe produces a pump capacity of 85.25 m3 / hour, pump working hours 10 hours/day and electricity costs of Rp. 15,525,000.
