Abstract

Penelitian adsorpsi metilen biru dengan menggunakan arang aktif dari gambut telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh waktu kontak dan pengaruh berat arang pada adsorpsi metilen biru. Arang aktif teraktivasi dibuat dari gambut yang dikarbonisasi pada suhu 300 oC selama 1 jam dan aktivasi 1 gram arang dengan activator asam sulfat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik arang aktif gambut dengan kadar air sebesar 0.4489 % , daya serap iodin 758.540 mg/g, daya serap metilen biru 9,3872 mg/g. Pengaruh waktu kontak yang diperoleh dari adsorben arang aktif gambut terjadi pada waktu kontak 20 menit dan pengaruh berat arang yang diperoleh dari arang aktif gambut pada berat 0.5 g.
