Abstract
Background: Gout disease or in the medical world called gout arthritis is a joint disease caused by a purine metabolism disorder characterized by high levels of uric acid in the blood. This buildup of uric acid makes joints sore, painful, swollen and inflamed. If the level of uric acid in the blood continues to increase, causing the sufferer to be unable to walk, the buildup of uric acid crystals in the form of tophi in the joints. One of the non-pharmacological actions that can be taken to treat pain and reduce uric acid levels in patients with gout arthritis is giving soursop leaf boiled water. Purpose: The writing of this comprehensive nursing case study aims to describe non-pharmacological interventions giving soursop leaf boiled water to reduce pain scale and decrease uric acid levels in patients with gout arthritis based on a review of research journals. Method: The method in this writing is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach in three patients with gout arthritis Results: The results of the assessment of the three clients with gouty arthritis found nursing problems with acute pain, sleep pattern disturbances, knowledge deficit, readiness to improve health management, risk of falls. Non-pharmacologic management that can be given is giving soursop leaf boiled water in patients with gout arthritis. Conclusion: Giving soursop leaf boiled water is effective for reducing uric acid levels and pain scale in patients with gout arthritis.
