Abstract

Education, which is usually face-to-face and interacts directly between teachers and learners, has now become indirect or virtual interactive learning. Teachers must be able to implement their strategies in carrying out online learning. Previously, when educational activities were carried out in schools, character education was carried out with the supervision of teachers. But now it is difficult to keep an eye on the character of learners in distance learning. This study aims to find out the strategy of civic education teachers in carrying out discipline character education during the pandemic through online learning at Senior high school Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang. This research is carried out using qualitative methods using descriptive types of research. Based on the results of the study, shows that the strategy of civic education teachers in carrying out character education through online learning is carried out with habituation, transparency, and appreciation. Habituation is aimed at getting used to students always being on time in collecting tasks and joining the classroom. The example carried out by civic education teachers is to provide good knowledge and examples to students. While the award applied by the civic education teacher is to provide an assessment of the attitude of students.
