Abstract

This research is entitled "Power Relations between Legislative Candidates for DPRD and Constituents in the 2019 Legislative General Election in Benakat District, Muara Enim Regency". The problem in this study is the tendency of power relations between DPRD legislative candidates in Benakat District, Regency which is seen based on vote results in the 2019 legislative general election. This study aims to determine the strategy of DPRD legislative candidates in building power relations with constituents and the power capital of legislative candidates. DPRD in gaining constituent sympathy in the 2019 legislative general election. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods and phenomenological research strategies. Data collection was obtained through in-depth interviews with 20 informants, documentation and a literature study. Furthermore, it is analyzed using Foucault's theory of power relations. The results of this study indicate that the strategy of DPRD legislative candidates in building power relations with their constituents is through a strategy of approach with family and relatives, economy and business, social and personal branding, and religious activities. The power capital of DPRD legislative candidates in gaining constituent sympathy, political, social, economic, and symbolic capital.
