Abstract

Background: Wasting is one of the nutritional problems of toddlers whose anthropometric index is seen from weight by height (BB / TB) or body weight by body length (BB / PB) with z-score limit less than -2 SD. In 2013, the prevalence was very thin in Indonesia of 5.3% and the prevalence of lean by 6.8%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that affect the incidence of wasting in children aged 1-5 years in Indonesia Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design. The data used are secondary data of Indonesian Life Survey Family 2014 with population of 48.139 people and 1569 sample of respondents in Indonesia. Data analysis was done by univariate, bivariate, and multivariate using complex sample multiple logistic regression prediction model. Results: The results showed that there was a correlation between exclusive breastfeeding, growth monitoring, maternal and maternal wasting, while the BBL, sex, infectious disease, food intake, economic status, immunization status and residence status. The most dominant factor of wasting is the growth monitoring variable with (PR: 1,771 95% CI: 1,225 - 2,561). Conclusion: factors affecting wasting are growth monitoring, exclusive breastfeeding, maternal education and maternal employment. Growth monitoring is the most dominant variable affecting wasting. Mother should pay more attention to the problem of growth of toddlers by monitoring the growth in posyandu.
