Abstract
This research focuses on the synthesis of a thin film as a ZnO-based photoelectrode with the aim of conducting a photoelectrochemical study of the pyrolysis spray results in a certain volume variation of the solution. The variation of the solution in the synthetic ZnO thin film was 10, 20, 30, and 40 mL. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) characterization was used to determine the presence of the phase formed in the sample. The results of XRD analysis showed that the ZnO phase was formed. Photoelectrochemical studies using the Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) method showed that the ZnO thin film with a volume variation of 30 mL gave the most optimum Photoconversion Efficiency (PCE) of 1.32% at a potential of 0.225 V (vs Ag/AgCl). The efficiency value which only experienced a small increase was due to the photoanode being used with a structure not on the nanoscale. Photoelectrochemical studies using the Amperometric Detection (AD) method at a voltage of 0.2 V (Ag/AgCl) showed that the ZnO thin film with a volume variation of 30 mL had the most optimum current density value of 0.053 mA/cm2.
