Abstract

Speciation analysis of Pb2+ and Pb4+ metal ions has been carried out in the waters around the Sukawinatan TPA Palembang covering the core zone, namely leachate, pond 1, pond 2, monitoring wells, buffer zone covering rivers and river canals as well as cultivation zones, namely community wells using the potentiometric method of concentration cell system. The purpose of this study was to determine the Pb2+ and Pb4+ ion species and their distribution in the waters around the Sukawinatan TPA Palembang. This method has a simple circuit, consisting of an anode and a cathode connected by a KNO3 salt bridge and a multimeter. Both sides of the anode and cathode are Pb metal electrodes. Each beaker contains electrolyte solutions of Pb2+ and Pb4+ with different concentrations. The concentration of Pb2+ metal ions in the core, buffer and culture zones ranged from 6.085-0.316 mg/L, while for Pb4+ ions ranged from 0.316-0.212 mg/L. The distribution of Pb2+ and Pb4+ metal ions from the core zone (upstream) to the buffer zone and cultivation (downstream) concentration tends to decrease. The results of determining the concentration of Pb2+ and Pb4+ ion species have exceeded the environmental quality standard of 0.1 mg/L which is classified as polluted.
