Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul “Representasi Toxic Relationship dalam film Story of Kale:When Someone’s in Love (Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes), judul ini didasari dari adanya fenomena toxic relationship dalam kehidupan sehari-hari lalu direpresentasikan didalam sebuah film. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Representasi Toxic Relationship yang terdapat pada film Story of Kale : When Someone in Love, apakah di dalam film tersebut terdapat tanda yang mengandung kekerasan atau hanya kekerasan bahasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yang memiliki 3 dimensi yaitu denotasi, konotasi dan mitos. Teori yang digunakan adalah Teori Representasi menurut Stuart Hall. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari menonton film Story of Kale di platform online lalu di analisis berdasarkan teori yang digunakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam film Story of Kale : When Someone’s in Love menggambarkan toxic relationship yang terjadi sehari-hari, seperti kekerasan fisik dan mental. Terdapat juga mitos toxic relationship yang terjadi di masyarakat lalu dikaitkan dalam penelitian ini. Kata Kunci : Representasi, Toxic Relationship, Semiotika, Film
