Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of drought stress in different growth phases and the effect of silica application when black rice plants are being stressed by drought condition on growth and yield of black rice (Oryza sativa L.). The research took place at the Green House of the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya Univeristy. This research was carried out from August 2021 to January 2022. The research was arranged using completely randomized factorial design. the first factor was drought stress (P0 = Control, P1 = Drought stress during tillering stage (25-40 day after planting/DAP), P2 = Drought stress during flowering stage (50-65 DAP) , P3 = Drought stress during filling stage (65-80 DAP)). The second factor was silica fertilizer application (S0 = without silica, S1 = with silica). The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) 5%. Variables observed showed drought stress has significant effect on plant height, total number of tillers, number of productive tillers, number of grain per panicle, grains weight per clump, and filled grains weight per panicle. Silica application treatment proven to increase plant height,total number of tillers, number of productive tillers, grains weight per clump and filled grains weight per panicle. Meanwhile, there were significant interactions between water stress and silica application on filled grains weight per panicle and 100 grains weight.
