Abstract

Background : Preeclampsia is one of the biggest causes of maternal death. Preeclampsia is closely related to symptomatic pregnancy-related diseases such as hypertension, edema, and proteinuria. In addition, preeclampsia can cause health problems for both the fetus and mother, thereby increasing the mortality rate for both mother and fetus. Purpose : This case study aims to describe the implementation of nursing practice that is focused on nursing care of postpartum mothers with preeclampsia, in accordance with evidence approach. Method : This scientific work uses a qualitative case study approach. Results : Based on the assessment in this case study, patients aged 31-37 years with the same problem, namely postpartum mothers with preeclampsia and the three patients managed were housewives with complaints of increased blood pressure and headache. Nursing problem is ineffective peripheral perfusion. The intervention given is non-pharmacological therapy with foot hydrotherapy using warm water. After being given the intervention, there was a significant decrease in blood pressure in the three patients managed. Discussion : Foot hydrotherapy technique uses warm water, make sure the patient is in a comfortable and relaxed sitting position, then prepare warm water by pouring warm water into the basin to a temperature of 37oC-43oC, limit the water to the ankles, soak the feet for 10-15 minutes. Afterthat, remove both feet, rinse with water, then dry the feet using a towel, take measurements for 10 minutes to determine changes in blood pressure before and after foot hydrotherapy. Conclusion : The three managed patient were given nursing care which consisted od assessment, nursing diagnosis enforcement, planning, implementation and evaluation. The implications of foot hydrotherapy showed that there was a decrease in blood pressure with a renge of 5-11 mmHg systolic and 4-7 mmHg diastolic decline in the three patients managed.
