Abstract

This study aims to see the value of hardness and ductility of the metal tested by tensile testing, with variations in cooling media Quenching water and oil media heated to the same temperature up to 760oC and a specimen without treatment. The results obtained in this study are as in the water media quench specimen which stretches only at 4% and the oil quench media at 5%, which when compared to the untreated or original object is 6.8%. These results indicate that the specimen with water media has a high level of hardness when compared to the other two specimens. The conclusion is that the induction heating used affects the changes in the properties of the specimen and the type of cooling medium and the viscosity used also affects these changes.
