Abstract
In a sentence, the word is formed following the structures. It is concluded and combinedwith one to another composed a word pattern. The sentences provided with some wordsthat are placed based on the grammatical sequence. It's sorted based on the speaker or thewriter needed on verbal or written communication. The grammar itself cannot beexcluded from the sentences because it holds a strong portion of a language. The purpose of this study is to find out and compare on students score and preference toward three different grammar test items. The population used in this study was the eight grade students. The study sample consisted of 26 students of SMP IBA Palembang. The data were collected from the result of test and questionnaire. The method that used to approach this research was a survey method and the result of this study found out that there are about 43% students prefer true/false as their test items preference.
