Abstract

The purpose of this research are : (1) Describe the channel of marketing of smallholder rubber materials through a traditional and organized system in Karang Endah Selatan Village, Gelumbang Subdistrict, Muara Enim District, (2) Analyze the differences in rubber farming income with marketing channels through traditional systems and organized, (3) Analyzing what factors determine the decision of rubber farmers to choose a traditional and organized system marketing channel in Karang Endah Selatan Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim District. This research was carried out in Karang Endah Selatan Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. The choice of the location of this research was done purposively. Data collection was carried out from October to December 2017. The method used in this study was a questionnaire survey method and sampling method using a disproportionate random sampling method. for data collection methods consist of primary data and secondary data. Primary data can be obtained by direct interviews with farmers using questionnaires. Secondary data was obtained from relevant agencies such as the Serasan Jaya Village Unit Cooperative (KUD), the Karang Endah Selatan Village Office, and previous research literature books that supported the literature on issues related to research. The results of this study indicate that marketing of rubber in Karang Endah Selatan Village, Gelumbang Subdistrict, Muara Enim District is carried out through two channels, namely traditional system marketing channels and organized system marketing channels. In terms of income based on the results of the analysis using SPSS V16, the income of rubber farmers in an organized system marketing channel is greater than the income of rubber farmers in traditional system marketing channels with income difference of Rp 7,677,981 per arable area per year or Rp 7,086,564 per hectare per years and factors that influence the decision of rubber farmers to choose traditional and organized system marketing channels based on the results of binary logit analysis with α = 0,10 is the variable distance of the house to KUD with the income variable.
