Abstract

Electricity is an important component of life in the modern era. Almost all community activities require electricity to comply with their daily needs. However, the frequent occurrence of periodic power outages makes people's productivity less. There are many alternatives to get backup electrical energy, one of which is a generator set. Usually generators in the market use carbon gas emissions for fuel, this will have a negative impact. Therefore, this research was chosen to answer the challenge. The researcher designed the motor generator set that produces small noise and doesn't induce carbon gas emissions. The motor generator set uses two batteries connected in series as a power supply, a motor as a drive and a generator. In this research, a comparison of two types of motor generator set rotational speed measurements using a rotary encoder and manual. By using a rotary encoder, the output power is 108.29 Watt and the efficiency is 16.4017%. That is better than manual measurement.
