Abstract

Development in South Sumatra Province, especially in Palembang City uses fine aggregate sourced from rivers. The need for river sand plays an important role for industry, both as the main raw material and as a by-product. One of the mineral processing tools is a sluice box. This study uses three variations of deck slope, namely with a deck slope of 2.38° (5 cm), 4.74° (10 cm), and 7.12° (15 cm). The highest concentration was obtained on the sluice box tool, namely on the slope of the deck 2.38 ° (5 cm). Based on the analysis of variations in riffle height with values of 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm, the highest concentration of the sluice box was obtained at 0.8 mm in riffle height. And based on the analysis of the variation of the distance between the riffles with values of 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm, the most concentrated results were obtained, namely the distance between the riffles of 10 cm. Analysis of the quality of river sand after the washing process with a sluice box tool, namely the test of mud content, organic content, and fine modulus of sand with fine aggregate inspection standards. Based on the results of the sludge content test of the three combinations of the sluice box tool variables, the results obtained are 0.95%, which has met the standard requirements for sludge content in accordance with SNI-S-04-1989-F:28, which is a maximum of 5%. Based on the results of the organic content test of the three combinations of the sluice box tool variables, the results obtained are color numbers 2 - 3 on the organic plate. Then, based on the results of the fine sand modulus test from the three combinations of the sluice box tool variables, namely 2.07, which has met the standard requirements for fine aggregate in accordance with SNI-S-04-1989-F: 28, namely 1.5 - 2.2. The results of the fine aggregate test obtained an average river sand modulus of 1.91 which is included in the category of gradation zone 2 which shows fine sand grains. For the average compressive strength of bricks with 5% ash variation of 7.47 MPa, 10% with an average compressive strength of 7.31 MPa, and 15% with an average of 6.16 MPa.the results of the organic content test of the three combinations of the sluice box tool variables, the results obtained are color numbers 2 - 3 on the organic plate.
